Good Bangkok Tailors

The reputation of Bangkok as a superior destination for custom tailored suits and shirts is growing with each passing year. Once considered to be an also ran, Bangkok is now a rivalling places such as London and Hong Kong for quality clothing. For prospective customers , however, this can be a double edged sword. For every high quality custom tailor there exists another that is only interested in making quick money whilst providing a sub-standard service and poorly crafted garments.

Here we will be looking at how you can find good quality tailors in Bangkok and avoid paying over the odds for lesser quality suits.
Do Your Homework - To begin with, make sure you do a little research before making your first appointment. Ask around with your friends and respected (and well dressed) colleagues to see where they recommend. You can save a lot of time and avoid negative experiences by sharing knowledge with those you know. Try to avoid being pressurised by unknown sources, such as taxi drivers. They work on commission for sending you to various tailors, with the end product rarely being of a high quality or durable.
It is also worthwhile doing a little background check on any custom tailors you are considering. If a particular tailors has been established for a good number of years, without resorting to underhand tactics (read that as scams), then  they should be a good choice. In addition to this, if you are paying a premium for your new custom tailored suit, then make sure your fitter is experienced and not their latest apprentice.
Fittings and Choosing Fabrics - When paying for a good quality custom tailored suit, it is normal to attend a fitting on more than one occasion. Obviously there will be the initial meeting where your measurements are taken, but many professional bespoke tailors will request a second fitting nearer the suits completion to make some subtle alterations.
Choosing the fabric is probably one of the first discussions you will have with your tailor. Before deciding on any designs or colours, you will need to consider the weight and type of fabric you want to use for your custom tailored suit. Cloth is produced in a wide variety of weights, ranging from 9oz (lightweight fabrics) to 17oz (heavy fabrics). Heavier and lighter fabrics do exist, but in the modern world where we spend most of our time in temperature controlled environments, lighter or heavier suits are no longer practical.
Ravi Sehgal Custom Tailors is one bespoke tailor that I have grown to trust in Bangkok. Having been established over 35 years ago, Ravi Sehgal's experienced fitters are able to offer expert fashion advice and will craft your suits using the highest quality fabrics and the very best tailoring techniques. Do yourself a favour and experience the superior feeling of wearing a well crafted custom tailored suit.
