It is believed that the soothing sound of a waterfall helps to focus the mind and bring the tranquility of a mountain stream into any room – whether in the home or office. People who believe in the feng shui way of interior decoration install the indoor waterfalls and fountains. The indoor fountains is known for its relaxing and healing powers apart from adding visual beauty to the room.

Why Have Indoor Fountains?

An indoor fountain is an artwork. The water walls are a dynamic visual display that is both appealing and comforting. An indoor fountain can impress the guests at home and the clients in business. The waterfalls produce tiny electrically charged particles called negative ions; this can make one not only relaxed but also alert. The negative ions remove impurities in the air, alleviating allergies and decreasing indoor pollution. It is believed that indoor waterfalls leave a positive impression on the person who is entering the room with indoor fountains.

Tips to Maintain Indoor Fountains

1. Change the water in the indoor fountain regularly. Atleast once in six months.
2. Use distilled water as the tap water contains minerals like calcium that can be detrimental to the pump and will leave ugly marks on the surface of the fountain in the long run. The distilled water is available in available in the grocery stores.
3. While using tap water in the fountains, use a water treatment product called protec. This will prevent and removes the mineral deposits and stains. This product is available in the pet and pool supply stores.
4. Algae are generally not formed in a decorative indoor fountain. However, if the fountain is not well maintained there is a possibility. In that case, use a product called fountec. This will solve the problem.
5. Always maintain proper water level, as it will naturally evaporate. A cupful per week is more than enough.
6. Fountain will be damaged if gold fish is put in it. Also, keep in mind that indoors fountain is a water fountain, so never add oils, perfumes, or bubbles to it. It can cause severe damage to it.

7. If the fountain is copper, apply a thin film of pledge or a any furniture polish. However, never use copper cleaner, wax or other solvents. These cleaners will remove the hand painted patina, leaving the copper raw.
