Arthritis disease affects the movable joint of the body like knees, wrist, fingers, toes, hips, shoulders and elbows. It results in severe pain in joints and makes the affected person disabled. The joint area is a surrounded by capsules whish is filled with fluid and lubricated with the viscous fluid which is surrounded by thin membrane. If anything goes wrong with any of the three things which can result in arthritis. It is more common among women then in men, although arthritis can occur in any age group but its chance to occur is more among old age people. There are as many as 171 different types of arthritis. It can occur gradually or suddenly. The most common form of arthritis is osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Prevention and treatment of arthritis:

Some form of arthritis can be prevented by weight control and avoid certain occupational and sport injuries. The pain and injuries that result from arthritis can be reduced by early diagnosis and appropriate management like intake of proper diet, take nutritious diet, control weight, exercise and be active, self management, physical and occupational therapy and replacing of joint when recommended. Treatment is very effective for the patients who want to get rid of the disease and want to enjoy life to its fullest, perform work properly. Early treatment is very important; the right time of treatment is first two to three years of the disease. Patients of arthritis are mostly treated by primary care physician. It aims at increasing the physical movements of the body that reduce the joint pain and reduces the progression of the disease. Non -steroidal and anti –inflammatory drugs are most commonly used to treat joint pain and stiffness in the patient. The treatment can be short term and also long term. Short term treatment last for nearly about six or twelve weeks and long term last for about fifty to fifty two weeks.

Doctors treat the disease with either surgical or non-surgical process. Surgical treatment includes replacing of the joint and non- surgical include medicines, physical exercise that maximizes the function of the patient’s musculoskeletal and therapy.
