Imitation wood blinds, as well as real wood, can be used on most windows and doors, including bow-shaped. They also make excellent cabinet doors and dividing components. Well-designed imitation farms especially blinds can last the entire life of the house and increase the resale value of the house. Plantation shutters require different types of hinge and track systems according to their size and use. Let's examine three of the most common.

Standard hinge system (Butt)

The standard end-to-end hinges system can be used in interior blinds for most windows (those with openings from six inches to 120 inches in height). Allows the blinds to open and/or unfold on one side. The hinge pin can be removed from the frame for cleaning or finishing.

Track System Bi-fold

This system is used for plantation shutters that serve as cupboard doors in which two panels are hinged and folded to others, and when sliding glass door panels are used. A folded double track system is also a good choice for interior window blinds if they are too large for the standard hinged system. Fits window openings and doors from 24 inches to 192 inches wide and 20 inches to 120 inches high. A double-fold track system allows components to slide and cover open.

Bypass system

This system works best with wooden shutters that are used as a room separator or as a closet door where the sliding shutter panels go from left to right. The bypass system also covers window and door openings from 24 inches to 192 inches wide and 20 inches to 120 inches high.

Hinge colors

Hinges are generally available in shades of white and neutral colors to match the colors of most false blinds. They are also available in brass, bronze, and stainless steel.

Manufacturers of plantation shutters provide the hinge or channel system with their blinds. It is preferable that the blinds are installed by a professional to ensure that this is done properly. Quality wooden blinds are a great investment. You want them to be installed correctly. This is not a DIY project that most people can or should take. However, it is still good to know what type of hinges or track system your blinds use if a part should be replaced. If you take good, well-designed blinds, especially imitation blinds, you will not require replacement.
