Cardio exercise is a type of exercise where muscles draw oxygen in blood, as well as fats and glucose in human body, which increase cardiovascular endurance. Cardio exercises help to burn fat in human body. One would definitely like to watch TV while doing cardio workout. For an exercise to be considered as cardiovascular, it needs to increase one’s heart rate to at least 70 % of its maximum rate. This causes his body to be in fat burning zone. A cardiovascular training should last for roughly 15 to 16 minutes. It is recommended to do cardio exercises a minimum of three days per week. These exercises can be done in early morning, afternoon, or evening.

Myths about cardio exercise

Number one myth is that one can burn off more fat if he does not eat breakfast before doing his morning cardio exercise. In fact, it is a bad idea. That is because human body temperature is at its lowest during morning hours, so it will take one longer than usual to warm up and get his muscles working. Human body will not burn off more fat if one does his cardio exercise before eating breakfast. Myth number two is that one should do cardio exercise before doing weight training. However, it is actually better to do cardio exercise after a session of lifting weights. This is because doing cardio exercise can draw on the glycogen stored in body muscles, so it will leave one’s muscles with less glycogen to use during strength training and that can make muscle building less effective. However, it is a good idea to do a short amount, about 5 to 10 minutes, of moderately intense cardio exercise before doing weight training. Myth number three is that one has to sweat to get the most out of cardio exercise. However, sweating is not an indicator of how effective a person’s workout is. It is simply a mechanism by which human body cools itself.

Benefits of cardio exercise

One can do power walking, jogging, stair climbing, cycling, and dancing as a cardio exercise. The benefits are raise in metabolism, reduction of stress, burning body fat, and improvement in the functioning of heart and lungs.
