Choice of Eye shadow color

The color of eye shadow has to balance the skin and eye color. It should stand out against the color of the eyes. Simple and natural shades are available. Dark shades curtail the eyes, while light shades make them prominent. For blue eyes, soft brown and tan colors are recommended. For green eyes, khaki and brown shades are advised. For dark brown and black eyes, brown and charcoal shades are available. An eye shadow looks darker in the palette than when applied to the skin. If bright eye shadows are being tried out, they should be used as a wash on top of the eyelids.

Application of Eye shadow over entire eyelid

Prepare the eyelids by wiping them with a slight quantity of loose powder. A light base eye shadow should be chosen. Select an eye shadow brush. Cover the entire upper eyelid from the eyebrow to the eyelash line. A medium base eye shadow should be selected for the lower eyelids. Now using a small eye shadow brush mark the edge of the eyelids with a dark shade. If the eye shadow has a heavy tone, using a cosmetic puff and some pressed powder can decrease it. Remove any excess powder from the puff and compress it lightly on the eyelid. The eye shadow may lead to eye irritation, especially if contact lenses are being used. So, remove excess eye shadow from the applicator.

Application of Eye shadow to line the eyes

Select a medium or dark tone of eye shadow and a small, flat and angled brush for lining the eyes. Rub the brush on the eye shadow. Start its application fromthe inner border of the upper eyelid. Move the brush from the inner corner towards the outer one. Making the brush wet prior to stroking it into the eye shadow will result in a more stunning line. The line will be sensed as wet while drawing it, but it dries within a small span of time. If eye shadow enters the eyes, cleanse them gently using lukewarm water. The equipment used for eye makeup should not be shared as eye infections like conjunctivitis may pass from one woman to other.
