Types of Eyeliners

An Eyeliner is used to delineate the eyes and to alter their felt shape or generate a specific mood. An Eyeliner may be softly smeared or precisely defined. A Liquid Eyeliner can be used to provide an accurate and concentrated line, which precisely outlines the eyes and stays exact for a long period of time. It is available in a small bottle along with a brush or applicator. The hand should be stable while applying it and hence the application is not very easy. It is advised for the top eyelid only, as it irritates the eyes if wrongly applied. Generally, it has a dark matte or shimmering shades. A Powder based Eye pencil is hard and can be easily used to mark a clear and exact line. It has a dark matte tone. A Wax based eye pencil is soft and manufactured from wax. It is suitable for smudging and is available in pencil or cone or compact form. A brush applicator may be used to apply it. It is available in bright blue, green, aqua, violet or bronze colors. Eyelids and corners can be emphasized by using white or light brown colors. A Kohl Eyeliner is the softest out of the four and generally applied to the pink skin behind the eyelashes. It does not cause any irritation to the tissue of the inner border of the eye. It circumscribes the eye curves with a dark color, which is normally black. It is available as a pencil or pressed powder or loose powder.

Application of Eyeliners

Liquid Eyeliner should be reserved for the top lashes only. For the lower eyelashes, a pencil or eyeshadow is recommended. To attain a spectacular appearance, use a colored kohl pencil above and below the eyelashes and apply black liquid eyeliner on the top. This makes the eyelashes to appear dark throughout the day.

Tips for Eyeliners

The Liquid Eyeliner might be observed messy and problematical to use, particularly for a few times. Some tolerance and practice enables proper application. The brush applicator should be washed consistently with a mild gel shampoo or a makeup remover. Using the eyeliner, on the inside of the lower eyelid may lead to some eye infection and cause the makeup to enter the eye.
