Feng Shui( Fung –shway) is an ancient Chinese practice of arranging the space to achieve maximum harmony and promote the flow of positive energy . The phrase ‘Feng Shui’ is now very much popular in the western and eastern culture alike. Today , people are applying its benefits in their homes and offices. The basic principles of Feng Shui states that the five element- earth, wind, fire, wood and metal , in their balanced state represent harmony. However, the elements can weaken or strengthen the other elements in a variety of beneficial and detrimental ways. The five elements correspond to certain colors and objects.
How Is Feng Shui and Fountains Related?
One of elements of feng shui is the water. This can be introduced in the home and office by placing a fountain , aquarium or a vase of water. It is said that the flowing water increases the positive energy. Hence the water fountains are the ideal solution for introducing the ‘water’ element into feng shui decorating scheme.
Feng Shui Fountains
It is believed that all fountains are feng shui fountains. However , there are certain fountains that are created on the basis of the principles of feng shui. Some of then are listed below.
1. Bamboo & Granite “Coin” Basin
This is a feng shui fountain of Japanese style. It features a hand-carved granite basin in the shape of an antique Asian coin. The granite coin sits in an earthenware bowl filled with river stones. The earthenware bowl displays a rustic touch to the fountain. The bamboo spout adds natural lightness and balance. It is believed that this fountain is wonderful way to add substantial impact to the wealth area.
2. Copper Leaf Waterfall
The hand-crafted copper leaf waterfall is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The water cascades down from one copper leaf to the one in the next level. The water is raised to the topmost leaf-shaped basin by the pump . A beautiful tinted patina is applied to the copper surfaces, and heat-treated to endure outdoor conditions. The sound of the water is soothing to ears.
