Hair gel is used to keep the hair in their proper place. When anyone wants a hair-do or sculpt for a particular hairstyle they use a hair gel for the purpose. Gels help to modify or make some new hairstyles, which just look good on some people. Hair gel is a hairstyling product used to stiffen and style your hair in a particular manner. The results they produce are similar to or stronger than the use of a hair spray but weaker than the effects of hair glue or hair wax.
Types:
Hair gels come in a numerous variations. Gels with higher number hold hair with great stability and style. Some lower numbered gels do not make the hair as stiff and also don’t hold the hair so well. Some products give the hair a wet look. Some types or brands of hair gel include temporary coloring for the hair, including variants in unnatural colors.
Cationic polymers
Cationic polymers are the most important working component of any hair gel. There are some positive charges in polymer that cause them to stretch, making the gel more glutinous. This is the cause of the stretched-out polymer causing them to take up more space more than a coiled polymer. Thus it resists the flow of solvent molecules around it. The negatively charged amino acids are attracted to the positive charges, binding the gel on the surface of the keratin molecules in the hair. This can be classified as the main function of a gel.
