Health retreat Thailand – Got to get away

Thailand is a fantastic country but it is not half hectic!  There are times when you think the traffic has been waiting there all day and that nobody ever sleeps.  Well, people do actually sleep in Thailand as the same is for the rest of the world but the stress of living has highlighted the importance to take care of yourself and this is not always easy when you consider factors such as work, personal life as well as other issues such as exercise, diet and social life.  There is no point being someone who works all the time and has no time for themselves the same that you should not be lazy and refuse to work altogether.  There is a healthy balance and everything should be done in moderation to ensure success.

But what would inspire someone to travel thousands of miles on a plane to just go to a health retreat in Thailand?  For one thing the location of the retreat is most likely far more inviting in Thailand than it is in their home country.  The price and variety of programs may also be far better than in their home country also.  Sadly there is a price on wellbeing and it can be quite steep so that is why Thailand and the health retreats it offers are becoming more and more affordable and enticing as a way of getting away and having some me time.  I was lucky enough to visit a famous Thai health retreat many years ago and my experience as a guest was very rewarding.  Many health retreats deal with the usual form of diet and fitness training but detox or breaking addictions can also be another form of program that health retreats offer, after all, if you get rid of the addictions that plague you then the weight is clearly lifted and you will already feel healthier.

So the definition of ‘health’ is quite varied per retreat.  There are many reasons to visit a health retreat in Thailand dealing with additions such as drugs or alcohol because, if you do not cleanse yourself of that then any other program may otherwise prove useless and unrewarding.  When I visited a health retreat that dealt with drug addiction and I saw the programs and patients I was both impressed and a little repulsed.

The retreat was prehistoric in terms of location and features but its methods were exceedingly effective and you could see from talking to the patients and hearing their stories (quite intimidating given their background) that they generally were getting better.  The effectiveness of such directed health retreats lead to one British singer who went there to be so impressed as to start their own fundraiser to raise money as a way of saying thanks.  This just goes to show that there is definitely a need for health retreats in Thailand for tourists and Thais as everyone deserves to be their best and visiting any health retreat in Thailand is a great place to start.
