Home Remedies for Getting Rid Of the Common Cold

Winter is here and this often means dealing with a case of the common cold. One of the most annoying parts of dealing with a cold is the cough that comes with it. Warm Salt Water- This has been an old fashioned home remedy since the dawn of the ages it seems. However, gargling with warm salt water does tend to the trick when it comes to dealing with a sore throat. Make sure to gargle instead of swallowing the water. Steam- Ever notice how you always feel better after a nice hot shower? That is due to the steam which can help to break up any congestion. A simple trick is to heat up some water until it becomes to let off some steam. Place a towel over your head and inhale the steam for about 5 minutes or so. Or you can try a warm hot shower as well. Let the steam work its magic and watch the congestion just melt away

This oil has been known to have soothing proprieties as well as helping to aid in breaking up congestion. Try placing a small dab on your pillow before going to sleep at night. If you do not have this at home olive oil can also do the trick. Try massage some olive oil on your temples to alleviate headaches associated with the common cold.
