One very basic but extremely useful appliance required in every home is the ceiling fan. A ceiling fan is a very simple device with equally easy process of installation.

Installation Guide

Most homeowners prefer to use professional help in installing a ceiling fan. However, it is not a very difficult process and individuals can install it on their own with the help of some important tips. Fixing a ceiling fan at home includes the following important steps:

1) Usually every room in the house consists of a central light fixture, which is provided mainly for fixing the ceiling fan. However, if the fixture were not provided then the individual would have to assess the room and accordingly fix the central point for positioning the fixture.
2) Then the individual must fix the junction box of the fan to the ceiling joist.
3) For fixing the junction box of the fan, it would be necessary to make a sufficiently large hole in the ceiling for the box to slip in it. If the box is being fixed beside a joist then the box can be mounted with the help of screws. The individual can drill side holes in the box and then connect it to the joist with the screws.
4) The hanger pipe of the ceiling fan needs to be inserted in the hole, which is located at the top of the motor. It is through this pipe that the wires are pulled out. The pipe is attached and fastened with the help of screws.
5) Once the parts like the junction box and the pipe are fixed then the blades need to be attached. For attaching the blade, the basic motor unit of the fan must be placed at a stable position. Usually, the motor unit of the ceiling fans are available with a styrene foam packing, which lends great support to the fan and holds it firmly while the blades are being fixed.
6) The blades of the fans comprise of double attachments. The blades are first attached with the help of the screws that are pulled through the holes of the blades. Once they are pulled through the holes then they are put into the flanges. In some cases, the flanges are also fixed to the motor housing. The flanges must be fixed firmly but by taking great caution. It is essential to ensure that they do not damage the threads of the blade or the laminated blade material.

Following these simple steps would lead to easy installation of a ceiling fan. These steps can allow the individual to install the fan without any external assistance.
