1.) Agneepath
Striking a perfect balance between a tribute and originality, Agneepath was a convincing remake of a cult classic. Unlike other biggest Bollywood hits of 2012 (films from the 100 crore club), Agneepath not just made moolah but left the critics happy and creatively satisfied too!
2.) Paan Singh Tomar Paan Singh Tomar was unconventional, hard hitting and at the same time damn entertaining. Packed with raw intensity, the film brought the miserable condition of the sporting heroes of our country. A lot of credit of this non-commercial film that went on to become a mass-entertainer goes to Irrfan, who brought the essence that this Tigmanshu Dhulia film actually required. Performance wise Paan Singh Tomar proved to be one of the best Bollywood Movies of 2012.
3.) Kahaani Riding on the shoulders of a woman, Kahaani gave Indian film industry a ‘S’hero in Vidya Balan, who helms the film together from the beginning till the end. The taut and gripping Bollywood thriller was lapped up by the lovers of the genres despite a little contrived culmination in the climax. The memorable performances of the supporting cast were yet another factor that made Kahaani top the suspense Bollywood Movies of 2012.
4.) Vicky Donor
A triumph for a brilliant writer, this touching and sensitive yet non-preachy Bollywood film was a fine piece of cinema that came our way in the year 2012. With one of the best screenplays of the year 2012 with the tadka of realistic performances from an extremely talented bunch of actors, Vicky Donor indeed deserves to be a part of best Bollywood Movies of 2012.
5.) Gangs of Wasseypur The two part Bollywood movie gave the Indian audiences the real taste of a meaningful sequel. Packed with powerful performances and a great music Anurag Kashyap’s pulp-fiction version of Jharkhand Mafia wars was loved by the connoisseurs of reality inspired cinema that crude and in-the-face. 6.) Jalpari – The Dessert Mermaid
If you have missed watching this flawed Hindi masterpiece, we suggest that you do as this little gem of a film sums up this serious issue of female foeticide like never before. It will make you love your daughter all the more.
7.) Barfi!
Yet another film that made money as well as sense. It won’t be an exaggeration to call the Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra-Illeana D’cruz starrer film one of the most beautiful love-stories of the recent times. With touching performances by Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka, this Hindi film went on to become India’s official entry to Oscars. Barfi becomes one of the must watch Bollywood Movies of 2012. 8.) Oh My God!
Starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, this Hindi film managed to touch hearts despite thriving upon a sensitive issue of questioning the existence of Godmen between human and God. 9.) English Vinglish
This Bollywood film marked the most impressive come-back of an actress (Sri Devi) in recent times. Based upon a woman’s struggle to win her self-respect, which she had lost due to her inability to speak English fluently, the film was lapped up by the Indian audiences like hot-cakes. 10.) Makkhi
Directed by S.S Rajamouli, Makkhi was the remake of Tamil blockbuster film, Eega. The tale of revenge of a house-fly, Makkhi won audiences’ thanks to its innovative plot and breath-taking special effects. Though not one of the biggest Bollywood hits of 2012 but definitely a must watch.
