Periodical cutting

There are several reasons not to cut grass too short. Grass grows from the crown, not the blade tips. This feature makes grass ideal for lawns because they keep on growing despite the regular mowing off of their upper stem, leaf cover and blades. So it important not to damage grass crowns by unplanned scalping with the mower. By keeping grass on the longer side also allows it greater surface area to carry out photosynthesis properly. This in turn results in healthier plants. Taller grass grows slower than shorter grass. Just eliminate up to 20 percent of the mowing annually. That is a savings of about 8 hours for the average lawn owner and not to mention a savings of gasoline and wear and tear on equipment. By keeping the grass at high end of its recommended mowing height, one can prevent 90 percent of all weeds from germinating and thereby abolish the need for herbicides.

Tree trimming

Both trees and plants must be trimmed on a regular basis to allow for a maximized prospective appearance and development of the landscape. One must trim on all varieties of plants and trees, no matter how big or small it is.
Small shrubs and hedges can be trimmed on a one-time basis or in regular basis depending on the needs. Even if the person is not trimming regular, at lest trim
the trees and plants once or twice throughout the year.

Tools for trimming

The edger is the first tool one should use. It is used for trimming along hard edges such as sidewalks and driveways. It is more accurate and leaves fewer divots than a line trimmer. With a proper length blade and a well-known edge, the edger is also faster than a line trimmer. After this use the line trimmer. Use this tool in such a way as to cause the trimmed grass to be thrown onto the lawn and not into beds, groundcover and shrubbery. The line trimmer is the messiest of the grass cutting tools one uses. Finally, mow and not only will the lawn mower pick up grass from its own activity, but it will collect a good deal of the trimmings bent by the edger and line trimmer. This saves raking, sweeping and blowing time too.
