A television set now forms an important part of any bedroom, especially a teenager’s. Though a separate TV set in the bedroom means that there is absolutely no control of parents on the viewer ship, it is a good option since it provides the convenience of watching favorite programmes at the same time.

A View on the matter

The size of the TV set to be kept in the bedroom is the thing one should decide, first and foremost. Though it is true that a large size screen makes viewing exciting, the size that suits the bedroom must be finalized.
Position of the TV in a bedroom calls for a thoughtful decision. Ideally it should be placed in front of the bed, so that viewing becomes pleasant in any position, like sitting or also while lying on the bed. But if the room is large and there is an alternative seating arrangement like a sofa set etc., care should be taken that viewing should be easily possible from any part of the room. A TV trolley or a revolving TV base enables this.
The distance, at which the TV unit is placed, must be checked since this very important for eyes. The horizontal distance between the viewer and the screen has to be minimum 4 Ft. and preferably 6 - 8 Ft. The vertical distance, that is the height from the floor has to be minimum 1.5 Ft. and ideally 2.5 – 3 Ft. This height is good as it takes care of not only the angle of the eyes with the screen, but is also suitable for the neck.
A separate furniture piece called as TV unit is a nice option for the keeping of TV in bedroom. A TV unit usually has a counter for placing the TV, a small drawer or shelf immediately below, for an LD player or a DVD player. There are also drawers and vertical shelves, open or closed, i.e. with shutters for remote controls etc. Smaller counters are also provided at a height for speakers. A home theatre system requires only a simple platform. A small drawer or a shelf should also be provided for keeping a cleaning cloth or duster, right next to the TV body. This enables a quick cleaning and helps in maintenance.
A TV helps in the look of interiors as it occupies a whole wall. The paint given behind the wall of TV should be of light color and plain so that it does not distract attention from TV.

Accessories

Other things like woofers, sound amplifiers, earphones etc. are also available. All in all, A TV set is a nice value addition to the interior of a bedroom.
