Thailand Wedding Ceremony

For the preparations of the wedding, the future groom will ask the future’s brides hand for her father and then talk about how could he sustain the daughter’s needs and how can he make or give her successful future. This is often about money and gifts that the future groom will give to the family. After the father agreed and let her daughter marry the man, then invitations will be released for the marriage.

They will go to sit in the mat with a glass and bottled water, the groom and bride will seat near the altar which is also near the first monk. The bottled water will serve as the holy water for another day ceremony, the whole audience listen to the first monk who will lead the prayer. People will crouch in front of the monks while the monks are drinking the coke. After the ceremony, monks will return to the temple and the audience will continue to drink the coke.

And at the early morning, again nine monks will be invited and will pray again and the holy water will be spill through the audience. By this time, both the groom and the bride will wear beautiful Thai clothes and together will kneeled near the altar.

After the ceremony, there are foods prepared for the monks and for people who participated in the ceremonies. And there is also an envelope that will be given to the monks, which contains money. Monks are not allowed to touch the money, so they put it in the envelope.
