Mendoza is a low rise city in the desert region of Cuyo in western Argentina. Weather here range from extreme hot to moderately cold in the city to extreme cold in the mountains. Humidity is very low in these areas which make the weather more bearable. This is a place where tourists will have something to enjoy through the year. This is also a place of festivals with a lot of singing, dancing and lots of food.
Places to Visit
Parque San Martin is a huge park with a zoo to the north-west of the park. After the zoo, there is a path leading to the mountain Cerro de la Gloria. The view from here is pleasant, particularly during sunsets.
The best place to start exploring Mendoza would be its central main square, Plaza Independecia. It has a number of restaurants and street shows. This place also takes pride in having some of the beautiful buildings which are particularly nice to see during the night due to the excellent illumination. There is also a Museum of Modern Art which is right under the plaza.
Plaza Espana boasts of being the most beautiful square of Mendoza Argentina. Casa de Fader is historic museum which is also a home to many artists’ paintings.
Exciting Activities
Aconcagua is America's highest peak and worlds highest outside the Himalayan range and offers trekking & climbing opportunities. Paragliding is available all round the year, depending on the course of wind. These tours also include a tandem flight with an experienced pilot for 15 minutes. At 7500 feet above ocean surface in the Andes, dwells the best known Ski Chile resort of Argentina, Las Lenas. This spans across 17500 hectares of land with 29 trials and 14 lifts. This is a heaven on earth for extreme ski and heli-ski. It features a vertical slope of 1200m ranging from the base at 2240m to the summit at 3430m.Las Lenas has now become a fully fledged resort, open all round the year. They now offer paragliding, horseback riding, trekking, mountain biking and many more adventurous activities.
Cerro Catedral is another destination for skiers and Snowboard Chile of all abilities. They have a skiable land of 5000 acres and also have interesting unmarked trails for the expert skiers.
