Transportation from and to San Francisco airport

San Francisco international airport is world’s 30 busiest airports. This includes being a leader in safety and security, customer service and satisfaction, community relations, environmental commitment, quality of facilities, and financial and economic vitality. SFO was the first major U.S. airport to achieve 100 percent fully automated and integrated baggage screening. San Francisco international airport (SFO) is located 13 miles south of San Francisco. Around 50 airlines provide nonstop service from SFO to 100 destinations worldwide. Two domestic terminals plus two international terminals serve the airport. SFO has its own BART station, which connects it to San Francisco and the East Bay.

You can travel to San Francisco airport through car, taxi, train, and bus. Trains run to San Francisco airport. BART operates rapid rail service to northern San Mateo country, San Francisco and the East Bay directly from SFO. BART can be easily accessed from any terminal by riding SFO’S Air train to the garage Bart station stop. There is no charge to board Air train. BART provides a connection to Cal train at the Millbrae station. Sam Trans public bus service provides 24 hour service connecting SFO to San Mateo county and parts of San Francisco and Palo Alto. Door to door vans provide service between SFO and passenger specified locations in shared ride vans. Depending on the number of passengers, door to door vans may make multiple stops. Taxis depart from the designated taxi zones located at the roadway center islands, on the arrivals/baggage claim level of all terminals. Charter services are available to most bay area locations and must be pre-arranged with the service operator.

Courtesy shuttles to participating airport-area hotels are located at the Hotel courtesy shuttle zones on the center island of the departures/ticketing level roadway at all terminals. Phones to contact the hotels are available in the shelters at each zone. San Francisco international airport’s rental car center allows travelers to pick up and drop off rental cars at one convenient, central location. Air train stations are located in all terminals, terminal parking garages, the rental car center and SFO’s Bart station. A number of limousine operators provide transportation services to and from SFO. Advanced reservations are required. Book a limousine operator before reaching SFO. Customers should pre-arrange their pick up location with the limousine operator. Services can be pre-arranged with the limousine operator, or arranged upon arrival at SFO through lodging, transportation and attraction boards, which provide free phone connections to participating limousine operators.
