Wallpaper is the material used to cover the interior walls. It is a special type of paper, which is applied to the walls inside the house to give them the desired look in fewer expenses.

Decorating walls

The method of applying wallpaper is simple: first, surface preparation is done in which loose material or old adhesive is removed and any defects in the drywall are repaired. After surface preparation is complete, adhesive called as wallpaper paste is applied onto the wall and then the wallpaper is pasted on it.
Wallpaper printing technique includes surface printing, gravure printing, silk screen-printing and rotary printing.
The design on wallpaper can be printed according to personal choice. For a teenager’s bedroom, a wallpaper will be a very good idea, since it will make the room look interesting and give it the ‘my room’ feel.
Girls can go for light shades with floral print or soft pastel shades with fairyland characters printed on them. Boys will like dark shades with sports theme or steel and silver color scheme with their favorite rock star’s silhouettes on it.
Plain horizontal strips in two or three colors or 1 Ft. by 1 Ft. checkered design in a deep color with its light shade or wallpaper with marble effect are some options that can be tried in the bedroom.
Instead of getting wallpaper on all the walls, if wallpaper is applied to only one or two walls, that will create a different look and also save on some money. The walls, onto which the wallpaper is applied, can be made to act as a backdrop for the TV unit or a fancy cupboard or some special souvenir etc.

A word of caution

As a thumb rule, light colored wallpaper blends well with any sort of room and light tones and neutral prints are always safe because of being unobtrusive. But some adventurous people may like to put wallpaper with bright, shocking colors. This also certainly looks exciting but only care should be taken that it is accentuated with the whole look of the bedroom, i.e., the furniture and upholstery or else the room will end up looking like a mechano block where each and every wall has been put together separately.
