Alaska is one of the most popular destinations for those who just want to relax and take time off from their busy schedules. In fact, it is one of the “to go” places when out on a honeymoon or those who want to get away with the family.

There are many sights to see during an Alaskan cruise. Among the sights that you will enjoy are some of the tallest mountains in North America such as the Mt. McKinley; great wildlife that include the moose, caribou and the puffin; big glaciers such as the Glacier Bay, the Sawyer, and those in College Fjord. Tourists will also get a chance to get a taste of history especially the one with the Native American and the Gold Rush History. Other attractions that tourists should watch out for are the White Pass Railroad and the Totem Bight Park.

There are literally hundreds of cruise lines that offer a trip to Alaska. The trick is to find the best price and the best time to go. The period from May up to September is the best time to book if you want to save some money. This is one of the leaner months in the area, where there are few tourists that go there.

One of the things that you should do to make sure that nothing could mar your vacation time is the clothes and the things that you will be packing. After all, how can you enjoy your stay when you are freezing half to death? And it can really be cold especially if you are going to the northern-most areas.

Here are some of tips that can help you in packing those suitcases.

Dress in layers

One of the best ways to make sure that you are going to be dressed appropriately all the time is to dress in layers. This means that if it get a little bit hotter than usual, then you can remove a layer and then wear it again when it gets cold. This is because there are some areas in Alaska that can get really cold while there are others that have normal temperatures. The weather can be really unpredictable so it pays to also be a little bit unpredictable.

Go for sports

Remember that you will be trekking and going to places that is not exactly paved with cement. So pack your best mountain or trekking shoes for safe and easy walking. Sports wear that are comfortable and lightweight as well as sturdy are the best bets for these vacation trip.

Sweats and pantsuits

Sweaters that are warm but lightweight; windbreakers, raincoats and jackets are staples that your suitcase should not do without. Jeans can be a good material to wear also but make sure that you do not get wet as this material will take ages to dry. A great alternative is pant suits and jogging pants that can also protect the same way as pants but can dry up really fast.

Protective accessories

Bring accessories not just for accessories but also for protection. Among the things that you should be bringing is a good sun visor just in case the weather becomes sunny, a sunglass, a cap or a hat, preferably water-resistant for rain, a small umbrella that you can keep inside your bag, and light gloves.
