Tuning in

Chimes are actually a set of bells set to tune. Wind chimes are tubes hung outside a window or a building that strike each other by the flow of wind and produce soft tunes that are sweet to the ear. These chimes are usually hollow but may be solid also. Generally there is a ball or some sort of feature in the centre of the circular arrangement.

Various types

Wind chimes are available in absolutely any material, but wooden or metallic is the most common material used for making the tubes. PVC, seashells, glass, bamboo stone etc. are also used. In metals, aluminum, brass, old silver, copper steel or alloys can also be used. In some cases, the chimes may be of a different shape and not a tube at all. They may be of a twisted tube shape or any other shape.
The sound produced by the wind chime depends on many factors like the material used, hollowness of the tubes, length, diameter etc. It actually is all about frequency and depth.
There are several options available in today’s date.
There is only one ring of chimes actually, but there may be as many as thirteen rings in a single set of wind chimes. These not only add an ethnic look to your homes, they also tend to bring good luck to your home according to the Feng Shui. Getting the chimes or even gifting them is a good idea.
Wind chimes are supposed to bring in good luck as per Feng Shui.
It is not mandatory to hang a wind chime in the bedroom only; it can be hung in the living, at the windows, at the main entrance of the house, or to the ceiling of cover of a balcony or a terrace.

Point of hanging

While hanging wind chime in your bedroom, you should hang it in such a position that the sound of it should be able to reach the ears, but it should not be exactly on top of the bed. Otherwise it causes disturbance in sleep or even chatting.
